'67 Ron Haselhorst, Norfolk, entered the US Army in August of 1968 and completed two tours of duty in Vietnam in Feb. of 1969 and was honorably discharged in Sept. of 1970. Ron's son, Ross, entered the US Army in Aug. of 2000 and just completed a tour of duty in Afghanistan and is currently stationed at Ft. Campbell, KY, where he is in the A-Co3/187 (Air Assault) Infantry Regiment.

 

'76 Julie Dziowgo Wollschlager, Phoenix, AZ, is an administrative assistant for CIGNA. Her husband, David, is a fax specialist for DANKA. They are active with LifeTeen Program at St. Jerome's Catholic Church, teaching Jr. High and High School teens the past 13 years. They have been married for 22 years and have three children; Micaela, age 20, who attends Grand Canyon University in Phoenix; Benjamin, age 18, who attends Hastings College in Hastings; NE, and Cody, age 11.

 

'83 Gary Cuddy recently completed a 16-hour, two-part trauma symposium and a 30-hour Sports Medicine program. He joined the staff of Avera Holt County Medical Clinic in January 1995 as a Physician Assistant after completing his PA studies at the Univ. of No. Dakota in Grand Forks, ND. Gary is married to '84 Stephanie Shaw Cuddy and they have two sons, Jeremiah, age 8, a second grader at St. Mary's; and Joshua, age 4.

 

'84 Paula Boyle Atkeson received her master's degree in education with an endorsement in counseling from Wayne State College in December, 2002. Paula is married to Bob Atkeson and they have a daughter, Molly, age 5, and two sons, Will, age 4, and Jared, age 2.

 

'84 Verna Krebsbach Johnson lives in Ralston, NE, and attended St. Mary's for sophomore and junior year, then moved to Omaha and graduated from Roncalli. She works at Jefferson Pilot Financial as an executive asst. for the vice president of the business systems management & development department. Verna is currently divorced, with four children, Alisha, age 14; Charly Sue, age 11; Robert, age 10; and Dakota, age 8. They attend St. Gerald's Catholic School in Ralston.

 

'92 Mark Liewer is stationed at Fort Leonard Wood, MO, training in Military Police.

 

'98 Sean Ningen graduated from Wayne State College with a bachelor's degree in criminal justice and is pursuing a career with the Nebraska State Patrol.

 

'99 Vicki Pribil, an education major at Wayne State College, participated in the Northeast Nebraska Teacher Academy, a collaboration between Wayne State College, ESU #1 and 17 northeast Nebraska school districts, which results in classroom experience for Wayne State College education majors while helping to alleviate the substitute teacher shortage in the area.

 

'01 Jason Winter, who attends Northeast Community College in Norfolk majoring in building construction, was elected to the student senate and was a homecoming candidate.

 

'58 Marie Boyle Harte and husband '63 Joe Harte operate a ranch near Inman, NE. They also own Harte's Pub in Inman. They have four children, '84 Kim Harte Overholser, '85 Kurt Harte, '87 Kay Harte, and Kent. They also have three grandchildren.

 

'84 Kim Harte Overholser is married to Rich Overholser. They have one child, Cody, age 3. Kim is a Dental Hygienist. They reside in Palmer Lake, CO.

 

'85 Kurt Harte is married to Kristy Laursen. They live in Omaha and have two children, Charley, age 5, and McKenzie, age 3. Kurt is a Physical Therapist in Blair. In April, Kurt was chosen by lottery to compete in the 2002 International Ironman Competition. After training for seven months, he and his wife traveled to Hawaii for the race. He had to accomplish the 2.4 mile ocean swim, a 112-mile bike ride, and a 26.2 mile marathon run in 17 hours. It was a difficult race, with 8 to 10 ft. ocean swells, with air temperature at the lava fields at 90 degrees and 98 to 100 percent humidity. The race began at 7 a.m. and Harte crossed the finish line at 10 pm ahead of 250 competitors. He was named an Ironman of the toughest race in the world.

 

'87 Kay Harte is single and teaches first grade at Valentine Elementary School, having taught there since her graduation. She lives in Valentine.

 

'97 Grace Bahrij graduated magna cum laud from Briar Cliff College, Sioux City, Iowa with a bachelor of science degree in nursing in 2000. She is employed by Methodist Hospital, (Oncology Department), Omaha.

 

'99 Joy Bahrij graduated from Southeast Community College, Beatrice campus, with a degree in practical nursing, (LPN) in December, 2002. She is employed at Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital in Lincoln, and is continuing her studies towards an RN degree.

 

'02 Christopher Bahrij is attending the University of Nebraska at Lincoln majoring in civil engineering. He is a cadet in the US Air Force ROTC program. He is a member of the Nebraska Civil Air Patrol.

 

'02 Ashley Braun, a speech communications major at Wayne State College, was one of four selected to direct their own plays during the WSC Directors' Showcase. Ashley plays seven characters during the one-act play, Spoon River Anthology. Her activities also include Student Activities Board, competitive speech team, drama club, volleyball intramurals, secretary of the psychology club and treasurer of dorm council.

 

Avera St. Anthony's Hospital Foundation held its Eleventh Annual Benefit Dinner Theatre on Oct. 6, 2002, in which '80 Valerie Hansen Wecker and '80 James McCarville were among the vocalists.

 

Avera St. Anthony's Hospital held their Blessing and Dedication on Sept. 25, 2002. The Most Reverend Elden F. Curtiss, Archbishop of the Diocese of Omaha was on hand to bless the new addition and renovation of the Surgery/LDR's, Chapel and the Kidney Dialysis Unit. Also honored was '36 Lucille Hickey Dufek for her over 40 years of service and still has an active role on the hospital's foundation board. Others honored for years of service were '74 Jane Krupski Kersenbrock, 20 years, '90 Heather Miles Pardun, 5 years.

St. Pat's Kraft Korner is now in it's 25th year. The group makes the baptism bibs for St. Patrick's, quilts for the auction, St. Patrick's Day Raffle, St. Anthony's Hospital, Franciscan Dominian House, Bright Horizons, baby quilts for the needy, those sent to Mission, TX, and quilts for others. Residents of Beverly Healthcare join in by cutting pieces for the quilts and tying the baby quilts. If interested, contact '46 Marie Schneider Ramold.
