Hello from the St. Mary’s broadcasting class.  I am Laura Cameron.  I am Kathryn Fuchser.  This week is a short but a very exciting week for St. Mary’s football team, students, and fans.

A special Mass was held last night in thanksgiving for the football team’s accomplishments and to wish the players good luck.  The senior football players along with the cheerleaders were responsible for Mass assignments.  The contemporary choir and high school choir sang.  Players, parents, and supporters attended.  A pep rally was held in the church parking lot after Mass.

Congratulations to the St. Mary’s Varsity football team on their success over the Sargent Bullbogs and the Mullen Broncos in their bid for a trip to the State final D-2 football competition against the Lindsay Holy Family Bulldogs.  The Cardinals traveled to Sargent on  Monday, November eleventh,  and defeated Sargent 46-0.  Then last Saturday St. Mary’s hosted the Mullen Broncos and defeated the Broncos 50-6.  The Cardinals will travel to Lincoln and play the Lindsay Holy Family Bulldogs at Memorial Stadium at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 21st for the Class D-2 State Championship.

This morning the Lions Club visited St. Mary’s to screen the students for sight and hearing.  We appreciate this service from the Lions’ Club.

Also this week has been designated National Hunger and Homeless Awareness Week.  Students in each class are encouraged to donate non-perishable food items or personal hygiene product.  The class that donates the most items will win a Subway meal for the class!  More important than the prize, however, is our opportunity to give selflessly to those who are in need of these products.

On Saturday, November twenty-third, the Cardinal drill team will attend the National Dance Association dance camp in Grand Island. The girls will split up into two groups and learn a total of four dances that they will use during the basketball season.
