Good afternoon. Thank you for joining us on this blustery FALL October Day for this week’s broadcast of St. Mary’s High School news. I am Jordon Anderson. And I am Laura Cameron. Jordon, I really thought that winter wasn’t supposed to arrive until at least AFTER Halloween! All of the trick-or-treaters will have a chilling experience tomorrow!
And so, ______________, let’s take a look at what has been happening at St. Mary’s this week.
Parent-Teacher Conferences were held last week for the first nine weeks. Students had a half-day of school on Friday. Parents picked up report cards and met individually with teachers.
Some junior girls attended an open house for junior and senior girls at the Notre Dame House in Omaha this past weekend. Sister Anita sponsored the trip. The girls arrived in Omaha on Saturday night. Sunday morning the SMH girls attended Mass with other girls from Wahoo and Omaha. They also went on a tour of the Notre Dame house, listened to some of the sisters speak about their missions, and participated in games.
An all-school Mass will be held Friday at 8:10 a.m. in honor of All Saints Day. The fourth grade is planning the Mass. They will dress up as saints. They will also give short speeches about the lives of the saints. The high school choir will sing.
Members of the Future Business Leaders of America will work at the Parish auction this Sunday, November third.
In mock trial the Red team will compete against the Stuart Red team at O’Neill tommorow at 10:00 am at the Holt County courtroom.
Tomorrow, October thirty-first, the cheerleaders will be handing out trick-or-treat bags to the little children at the football game.
As a treat for the only class in the junior-senior high school that didn’t have detentions in the first quarter the sophomores had juice and donuts complements of Mrs. Conradt.
This week’s senior profile is on Kiel Neumann. Kiel is the son of Darin and Linda Schneider and Charles Neumann of Omaha. He is seventeen years old and has attended St. Mary’s for twelve years. This year Kiel is involved in football, basketball, track, and mock trial. In his spare time he likes to watch sports and hang out with friends. After high school Kiel plans to attend the University of Nebraska at either Omaha or Lincoln and major in physical therapy.
