Good afternoon.  I am  Jordon Anderson.  And I am Matt Schaaf.  We are here this afternoon with our weekly broadcast of St. Mary’s Cardinal news.  We began this morning with our weekly all-school Mass.  The third graders planned the Mass for the students.  We also have Benediction this afternoon.

This week seems to be a week of standardized testing, ______________.

On Monday the sophomores took the PLAN test.  The PLAN test is used to give a student’s projected range for the ACT test which is usually taken during the junior and senior years.  The PLAN test lasted around three hours.  Also this week grades two through six are taking the Iowa Test of Basic Skills.  These ITBS tests  compare St. Mary’s students to students across the nation.  The tests also help track academic progress and academic goals.

Homecoming was a great success.  After the Friday night game, the homecoming dance was held.  The freshman attendants were Ashtin Soukup and Jesse Reiman.  Sophomore attendants were Sarah Novak and Ray Timmerman.  Junior attendants were Laura Cameron and Ryan Kelly.  Senior attendants were Brooke Earley and Mike Simons.  The homecoming queen was Theresa Conradt and homecoming king was Dan Haggerty.

Each week, we will be doing a profile on one senior from St. Mary’s. This week that

student is Matt Willis.  He is the son of Keith and Carole Willis of O’Neill.  Matt is seventeen years old and has attended St. Mary’s for twelve years.  He is involved in football, basketball, track, and mock trial.  In his spare time, Matt likes to watch sports, hang out with friends, and watch movies. After high school Matt plans to attend Creighton University and pursue a degree in optometry.
