
John Bohn, class of 1983, was ordained to the priesthood on Saturday, May 31st for the Diocese of Jackson, Miss. Fr. Bohn, son of Max and Helen Bohn of O'Neill, was ordained at the Cathedral of St. Peter the Apostle in Jackson and will serve as a diocesan priest for the Diocese of Jackson.
After graduating from St. Mary's, Fr. Bohn served four years in the U.S. Army and was stationed for his entire enlistment in Kitzingen and Wurzburg, West Germany. Upon his discharge in the spring of 1987, he returned to Lincoln and attended the University of Nebraska College of Journalism and majored in advertising. After his graduation from UNL in May of 1990, Fr. Bohn worked for a short time in Lincoln before moving to Jackson in early 1991. While in Mississippi, Fr. Bohn worked as a retail advertising representative for Jackson's daily newspaper, The Clarion-Ledger, until the time he entered the seminary.
Fr. Bohn attended Mundelein Seminary in suburban Chicago, beginning his theological studies there in the Fall of 1992. On May 10, 1997, he completed his academic work and was awarded the Masters of Divinity Degree. Fr. Bohn's first assignment will be as an associate pastor of St. Joseph's in Greenville, Miss.
His Mass of Thanksgiving was held at St. Patrick's Church in O'Neill on June 15th at 11 a.m. with a reception to follow. Fr. Bohn and his parents are grateful to all their friends and family in their prayers and support of Fr. John's priesthood ministry.
