1940 ~ First Football Team (6 man) organized under Jack Arbuthnot. Front row: Art Jurgensmier, Richard Stein, Bob Parkins, Jack Harty, Don McKenna, Eugene Streeter and Jim Higgins. Back row: Coach Jack Arbuthnot, Bob Miles, Francis Hickey, John Shoemaker, Bill Ryan, George Hammond, Norbert Fernholz, Ted Sirek, and the Rev. Fr. Richard, Parr. Absent form the picture, but a part of the team were, duke Kersenbrock and Jerry Kleinsmith.

Pep Club ~ 1947- 48.

 

1958 Track Team set nine school records.

 

1958 Nebraska 8-man State Football Champions.

 

1959 Class C State Track Champions and Class C All Sports Champion Trophy. Coach Don Templemeyer with State gold medalist Larry Tomlinson and Gene Schneider.

 

First Girls' Volleyball Team,1964.

 

1967 St. Mary's pep Club won the Holt COunty Trophy for Outstanding Pep Club of the Year.

 

1968 winners of Holt County Basketball tournament with coach Mike Fitzpatrick.

 

1968 Track Team with Coach Ron Bovill wins first in Holt County Meet.

 

Undefeated 11-man Football team, with coaches Torczon and Wells.

 

Growing participation in girls' sports. Volleyball, 1970.

 

1971 "Cards" go to State with Coach Rick Mumm. Back to back District Champions in 1970 and 1971. First Basketball team to go to State since 1941.

 

1974 District Champions with Coach Ritterbush.

 

1978 ~ John Berigan and Matt Mattern win State Track Medals. John won Gold in the Triple Jump (right) and Matt won third place in the two mile run (left).

 

1979 Class C Regional Champions with coach Kathy Brennan went to state in1979 and again in 1980.

 

1982 Gary Schneider won State Gold medal in 110 meter high hurdles.

 

1989 Brice Crawford won State Gold
in 300 intermediate hurdles.

 

1984 "The Running Redbirds" went to State for three consecutive years ~ 1984,1985,1986. Coaches Kersch and Artz.

 

Undefeated 1984 State C-2 Football Champions - with Coaches Rethwisch and Doerr. Awarded the C-2 All-Class Title.

 

Cross Country Harriers 1987: Michaela Gallagher, Lucy Peter, Fr. Korte (coach), Lorriane Peter, Kelly Hibbs, Shelly Luther. The team won first place trophy at the O'Neill Invitational. Lucy and Shelly qualified for state. Shellu Luther won gold and was the Class C Champion.

 

Golf Team 1994. Played with the O'Neill Hgh Team and won Class B State Runner-Up Trophy.

Track Team 1999. Eleven members qualified for the state Track Meet. The girls placed third overall. Claire Kersenbrock earned 2 silver medals in triple and long jump, and a bronze in the 200 meter dash.

 

State Track 2000. Claire Kersenbrock won gold in the 200 meter and
bronze in the 100 meter dash.

 

State Track 2000. 1600 Meter Relay Bronze medalists Craig Reiser,
Jake Peetz, Ross Berg, and Bill Troshynski.
