Cole and Krugman Compete At State Wrestling

Tyler Cole and Tim Krugman competed in the State Wrestling Competition which was held in Lincoln at Devaney Sports Center on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, February 20th to the 22nd.

 

Tim wrestled Aaron Biermann from Gretna in his first round and was pinned in the third period. In Tim's second round he defeated Dustin Ehlers from Gothenburg 3 to 1. Tim also defeated Andy Sass from Blair in double overtime. In Tim's fourth round he was pinned by Ahren Finney from Broken Bow in the first period with 1: 35 left.

 

Cole pinned Tyler Sturgeon from Cozad in the second period with :55 seconds left. In the second round Cole was defeated by Jason Katusin from Platteview 14-0. He won over Drue Miller from Falls City 5 to 0. In the fourth match Cole was defeated by Derrick Doolittle from Holdrege 2-1. Tyler and Tim had qualified for the State Competition in the district wrestling meet on Saturday, February 15 in Aurora.

Tim was defeated in his first round of district competition 2 to 1 in double overtime against Isaiah Graham from Central City. Tim then came back in the wrestleback against Lance Heron from Columbus Lakeview and pinned Heron in the first period. In Tim's third round he defeated Bryan Johnson from Clay Center 3 to 2 in double overtime. In his last round Tim wrestled Isaiah Graham again and pinned Graham in the third period.

 

Tyler Cole's first round in district competition was a bye. In the second round Tyler defeated Dustin Taylor from York . Tyler wrestled his third round against Alex Adamek from Seward and also defeated him. In the last round Tyler was defeated by Johnny Marsh from Centennial.

 

Tyler and Tim wrestled this year as members on the OHS Eagle wrestling team in the cooperative wrestling program between St. Mary's High School and O'Neill High School. Todd Ascherl was their coach.
