Here Comes Santa Claus

Now that the dancing for football season has come to an end, the St. Mary’s Drill Team is firing up for an exciting season of dancing for basketball. The girls will be performing at the eight home games. They plan to do a new dance for each half-time entertainment of the varsity boys’ basketball games. “They are also going to repeat their routine to the song ‘Grease Lightning.’”

"For basketball we're trying something a bit different. Every girl on the team will be participating in choregraphing a dance to the song of their choice. It's a great way for all of us to use our creativity and skills in dancing," comments captain Kala Ryan. Captain Katie Cameron said, "We're going to use props and different costuming to shake things up a little for the basketball season, so we should be having loads of fun at our practices and performances."

On Saturday, December 1, ten of the twelve girls attended the NDA dance camp in Grand Island. With about 110 members from various schools attending, there was a large participation of eager dancers. An NDA instructor taught three routines. The camp was a great experience and the drill team had a lot of fun thoughout the day!

On December 11, at the half-time of the Varsity boys' basketball game, the drill team dazzled with a sensational performance, the dancers handed out candy canes which were a big hit with the kids in the audience.

Well, there you have it. The drill team is still working diligently to bring you the best of entertainment for your half-time viewing pleasure. Make sure you cheer loud and move to the music whenever you see those dancing girls out on the floor
