Fee, Fi, Fo, Fum-- Jack and the Beanstalk came to St. Mary's February 4, 1995. The Missula Children's Theater (MCT) brought 49 O'Neill area students together to perform for their friends, families, and communities.
Actors and directors Scott Price and Shana Pennington, one of 19 touring groups from Missoula, Montana, came to St. Mary's on January 30 when approximately 150 area youth auditioned for 49 roles and five assistant director jobs. After a 20-hour week of rehearsals, the young actors and actresses were ready to perform.
St. Mary's High School students involved were: Vicki Pribl and Becky Luther (Merchants); Crystal Wettlaufer, Mike Watson, Frances Shefl (Farmers); Joe Gray (Gambler); Eileen Jensen (Harp); and Ami Buckendahl (Assistant Director).
St. Mary's Elementary students who acted in Jack and the Bean Stalk were: Ashley Braun (Acrobat); Nicki Ludemann (Clown); Tom Fletcher (Strong Man); Kevin Ohri (Lion Tamer); Kelli Reynoldson (Fire eater); and Ann Kersenbrock, Katie Fletcher, Taylor Ptacek and Katie Schindler (Magic Beans).
While in O'Neill, Price and Pennington held a workshop on improvisational techniques for the cast of St. Mary's musical Time and Time Again.
The O'Neill community band, the Harmonics, with help from other businesses and individuals, sponsored the MCT production in O'Neill.
After the performances of February 4, with the help of willing volunteers, Price and Pennington packed up costumes, props, scenery, makeup, and scripts, and headed for Canada-- to do it all over again!
