GAME ON! As Wayne and Garth would say, the
NHL (National Hockey League) season is back. Now that NHL players
and owners have signed a new collective bargaining agreement, hatched
after 103 days of lockout incubation (strike), many questions have
come up: Will this 48 game season grow into a great one?, and is it
true that the Stanley Cup finals will go on until the end of
July?
With this years season shortened to only 48 games, it should
banish the midseason doldrums. With only 48 games, every game should
show the same high intensity night after night as if each game was a
playoff.
As the NHL season starts, expect tight races, more goals
(Because offence happens, while defense is coached), and a rash of
injuries due to players in less then good condition. Never the less,
expect a season to remember.
