What is the one event that a school looks forward to every year? Most people would say graduation or even finals, but to some, Homecoming is that special event. Homecoming is the time when alumni come back and cheer for their former high school teams. It is also when athletes get pumped up to propel the teams through the rest of the season. However, at St. Mary's, the spirit is becoming less every year. No one looks forward to Homecoming. Why? No one really knows for sure, but many feel it is the fact that we no longer get to do many of the things that the school did in the past. One example of this is the riot. Students feel the riot should be held anytime during Homecoming week. Instead, it is planned. Another complaint is skits. Every class used to be able to do skits. Now, only the senior class can do them. The skits were taken away because too many people were being insulted. So this year, the senior class made a video as a new idea. As I see it, the more the students complain about it, the worse it gets. So I say, if you want to pick the spirit up, talk to others, get ideas, and let the faculty and other students agree on some things that will help increase Homecoming Spirit here at St. Mary's.
