No Fading Star Shines Brightly

 

Nazi Colnel Lauber (Corey Schnieder) emphatically order Mother Franziska (Anne Heitz) not to interfere with the search during the one-act drama.

 

The D-7 District One-Act Contest was held at St. Mary's High School on December 2nd, 1995. For the third year in a row, St. Mary's are the District One-Act champions. This advances them to the State One-Act Competition, held at Kearney High on Saturday, December 9th.

St. Mary's High School hosted the west division of the Niobrara Valley Conference Play Production Contest on Wednesday, November 15. The cast placed an impressive first place out of seven schools with this year's production, "No Fading Star."

The play is a story of the nuns at the convent of Maria Morgenstern, near the town of Baden, Germany. The convent takes part in delivering Jewish children safely across the boarder to France during teh time of the Holocaust.

Anne Heitz headed the cast as Mother Franziska, Mother Superior of the convent. Sister Klara, assistant to Mother Franziska, was played by Vicki Pribil, Mike Watson portrayed Klass Hoeffler, a worker for the convent, and Kari Conway assumed the role of Sister Monika. David and Miriam Sachs, Jewish children brought to the convent, were Adam Marx and Becky Luther. Nazi Sergeant Heimlich was Brain Fuchser and Nazi commander, Colonel Lauber was played by Corey Schneider. Lisl Moeller, sister of Mother Franziska, was Robbe Peetz.

Included in the cast are nuns: Kylie Cole, Brooke Soukup, Makala Givens, Jessie Caouette, Misty Hynes, Becky Gray, Jill Walters, Joy Bahrij, Corissa Davis, Leaha Dougherty, and Jami Givens. Jews are: Andrea Flahery, Sara Givens, Katie Haggerty, Carrie Hoesing, Brandi Schluns, Misty Butts, Eillen Jensen, Emily Zastrow, and Ashely Cole. Nazi guards are Eric Chohon, John Jeffrey, and Colin Kirschmer.

Directors are Julie Harley and assistant, Machelle Havenridge. Sr. Anita is the vocal director of the nuns.
