Earrings in school? No way! This form of fashion and self-expression has been forbidden at St. Mary's. Not for al students though, the makes are the target of this new infringement of students' rights.
Many students can't understand that while being taught to strive for the elimination of racism, colorism, and sexism, the very people teaching these values are oblivious to the fact that the matter of girls being allowed to wear earrings and boys not being allowed to is one of the most sexist rules in our school.
The administration allows both sexes to wear necklaces, rings, and watches; why not earrings? In my opinion, they are just another accessory, not a statement of rebellion.
I ask the faculty to consider the idea that this sexist rule is taking away our individuality and giving us the idea that not all people deserve fair treatment on all issues.
