I was asked to write how
I feel about my oldest daughter, Kelli, graduating from St. Mary's.
I really didn't think it would be such a big deal, but it's difficult
to put on paper.
As a parent, I'm feeling happy, yet sad, nervous but excited,
worried and elated, and yes, stressed! I'd bet I'm describing the
same feelings the seniors have. But more than anything, I'm feeling
very proud. Kelli has taken a little piece of her friends, teachers,
acquaintances, and family through the last eighteen years and has
become a wonderful, kind, and strong-willed young woman. She has
learned from her mistakes and disappointments and has grown from her
accomplishments.
I wish there was one word or a certain look that would convey to
her how much we would miss her when she goes to college, and just how
much we love her. I pray all her decisions will be smart ones, that
her roads aren't rocky ones, and all her dreams come true.
