Eight Medals Brought Home

At what seemed like the crack of dawn, April 25, 1994, twenty-six St. Mary's High School students, two sponsors and Dave the bus driver headed for the eleventh annual Norfolk Scholastic contest. Competing in twenty-three test subjects, seven of St. Mary's own were able to bring home gold medals. Our winners were: Tim Gokie coming in second in both American History and Algebra II; Corey Schneider, third in Applied Mathematics; Tony Guggenmous, second in Business Law; Grace Bahrij, second in Health; Andy Willis, third in Physical Education; Frances Shefl, third in Trigonometry;and Adam Manoucheri, second in World History. Fourty-nine Class C and D schools from the surrounding area competed for individual honors as well as team trophies. With over 1000 high school students taking part this year, the Northeast Community College Inter-High School Scholastic Contest was a huge success.
