For some, cross country holds little interest, but for Mike Watson and Matt Zakrzewski, cross country is the highlight of the fall sports season. Mike and Matt were the only two athletes to represent St. Mary's in this sometimes overlooked sport.
"Dedication" was the key word for these two freshmen. It opened new doors of success. A big achievement came when Mike took top honors in the Rangeland Conference Cross Country Meet. Matt gave his all and came in fifteenth. That was not all these two accomplished. In the Northern Activities Conference, Mike and Matt placed eighth and sixteenth, respectively.
Mike and Matt have the dedication and respect that will take them to state competition in the future.
