Four Testers Earn Medals
A successful excursion to the
Norfolk Scholastic Contest earned St. Mary's four medals on April 26,
1993. Medaling were Kathleen Hayes in Literature (2nd place), Brian
Hoesing in General Science (2nd place), Marian Gomez in Spanish I
(3rd place), and Frances Shefl in Algebra II (3rd place).
A total of twenty-six students participated in the
tenth annual scholastic contest. They were Michaela Bauer, Molly
Bauer, Jenny Belik, Ann Boyle, Jason Butts, Kirk Carr, Krista Gokie,
Tim Gokie, Mariana Gomez, Kathleen Hayes, Jason Heitz, Kevin Heitz,
Brian Hoesing, Laurin Klitz, Jason Kruse, Adam Manoucheri, Rick
Pongratz, Brian Riley, Francis Shefl, Mike Steele, Kim Shoemaker,
Melissa Weber, and Amy Willis. Unfortunately, some students were not
able to compete in the contest since the enrollment in their subject
area was completely full.
Leaving at an early hour, the students rose to the
competitive occasion. Besides taking tests, St. Mary's students
enjoyed taking advantage of the campus recreational activities. They
spent the day in the game room, listening to the Norfolk Swing Choir,
and trying to use the drive through at Dairy Queen.
