Team Critiques SM
On March 16 and 17, an External
Visitation Team, consisting of twelve Nebraska educators and State
Consultant, Claudia Carter, visited St. Mary's Grade and High School.
Their visit was part of the comprehensive school evaluation, an
intensive activity designed to provide the school with sound
information and recommendations for long rang planning. this
important procedure in maintaining high quality education also serves
to meet a requirement for both Nebraska and the North Central
accreditation.
The study consisted of two phases - a
self study by our faculty and staff and the follow-up visit by a team
of external educators.
St. Mary's self study was conducted by local
committees consisting of staff, students, and patrons. Using the NCA
Guide for the evaluation, the local group began the process a year
ago. The work was organized at the time by Steering Committee with
Ruth McCarville and Steve Bahrij as chairpersons. Other members of
the committee were Caroline Johnson, Nancy berg, Susan Krugman, and
Principals Srs. Gloria and Agnes Marie. In August of 1993 Mr. Ningen
replaced Sr. Gloria.
During their two days, team members visited with
students, faculty, staff, and school board members, observed classes,
examined board policies, student and faculty handbooks, and the
building complex.
At the end of the second day, the committee gave
their exit report, stating at this time a few commendation and
recommendations. The group was very impressed with the school and the
welcom they received at St. Mary's. A complete report on each phase
will be sent to the school in April.
