Prom Goers 'Ascend to Heaven'
"Stairway to Heaven" was the theme chosen for the 1993
Junior-Senior Prom. Many new changes were made this year. The juniors
decided against having a slave auction to raise money. Instead, they
sold candy bars, mints, playing cards, pizzas, paid class dues, and
bundled iron for Mr. Havranek at Heartland steal. Despite the extra
cost, a live band was booked instead of a disc jockey. "The Delivery
Boys" provided an evening full of enticing music. Also, for the first
time, the dance was held in the gym, which was decorated in the
colors of teal, silver and black.
The evening began with mass at 6:00. To avoid
pulling the parents out of bed late at night, coronation was held at
7:00 in the gym.
From the five candidates, Colleen Hibbs and Chris
Shoemaker were crowned Queen and King. The juniors chose Laurin Klitz
and Shawn Moss as attendents. The other candidates were Ann Boyle,
Melanie Schaaf, Bridget Wanser, Don Dugan, Jason Heitz, and Rick
Pongratz.
