The lion was not always the king of the jungle. At the beginning the elephant was because he was the biggest animal. He ordered everyone around because he was bigger. But the animals of the jungle were tired of being bossed around. So the lion was appointed to do something about it. He decided to scare the elephant.

One night he snuck into the elephant's tent and put a mouse on his stomach. The elephant woke up and let out a tremendous scream when he saw the mouse! The lion was overjoyed at scaring the elephant, so he ran outside the tent and let out a deafening roar! This brought animals for miles and miles. And as they say, the rest is history.
