"Oh that flower is so attractive. Look how bright are the colors. I wonder if the nectar is as sweet," the monarch butterfly was musing to itself. Now, the only way for the butterfly to check out the flower's nectar was to taste it. So the butterfly flew to the snapdragon. It forced the flower's lip open and stuck its long tongue deep down into the cavity of the blossom. Oh, dear, the butterfly was so full of honey-sweet food that it could not move. It was liquid-logged. It could not fly away. It was trapped inside the snapdragon.
Well, the snapdragon was weary of being kept open so long. But the desperate flower was helpless. It could not get the butterfly out. It could not close the petal tightly. What a predicament both the butterfly and the snapdragon were in!
Finally, the butterfly squeezed! Whew! Out flew enough sweet liquid to allow the butterfly to leave. How relieved the snapdragon was to close it's petal at last! The Monarch? Well, it merrily went in search of another blossom.
