St. Mary's Cards Take Third In NVC

The St. Marx's Cardinals won three and lost two over the last two weeks. Last Tuesday night, the Cardinals lost a heartbreaker to a rough group of young men from Creighton. The Cardinals shot a miserable 12/26 from the line, but hung with the Bulldogs until the score was tied at 50 when speedy Creighton point guard Bryce Mitteis made a game ending ten foot jump shot as time expired to make the score 52-50 Bulldogs.
Leading the Cards were Zach Sibbel with 17 points and 12 rebounds, Cody Eiler with 13 points and 14 rebounds and Andrew Krotter with 11 points and six rebounds.
Last Thursday the Cardinals had a rematch with the Broncos of Stuart and played great and jumped out to a 40-20 halftime lead and never looked back winning 54-37.
Leading in this game was Andrew Krotter with 14 points and four rebounds. Zach Sibbel with 12 points and 11 rebounds and Ross Crumly with eight points and three rebounds.
In the NVC tourney the Cards grabbed a first round bye, the Coyotes of Chambers were waiting for the match. The Coyotes jumped out to a 30-20 halftime lead, but the Cardinals answered back and beat Chambers 57-47 and guaranteed a spot at West Holt High on Saturday.
Leading the Cards were Zach Sibbel with 23 points and nine rebounds. Nate Peterson with 11 points and Cody Eiler with nine points and 10 rebounds.
On Thursday in the NVC finals. the Cardinals had a rough time scoring and the West Boyd Spartans were too much with the final score being 37-30.
Leading in this game were Zach Sibbel with 19 points and 12 rebounds. Cody Eiler with five points and six rebounds.
On Saturday the Cards faced up with Elgin Pipe John and came away with a 55-47 win.
