Alice Mae Ziska of Atkinson, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2007, at the Atkinson Good Samaritan Center.

Visitation was held from 3-8 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 24, 2007, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Atkinson.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 25, 2007, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Atkinson. Fr. Luke Steffes officiated the service.

Pallbearers were her grandsons. Joe, Jerry, Kevin, Derek and Brian Ziska. Wayne Prussa, Ryan LeMastera. Nathan Emanuel. and Jason and Joshua Caskey. Honorary pallbearers were the remaining grandchildren.

Interment was in the St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery.

Alice was born on March 14, 1920, in LeMars, Iowa, to Irwin and Anna (Zeig) Givens. A boarder at St. Mary's Academy in O'Neill; she graduated in 1939. On June 3, 1941, she married Lawrence Ziska at Epiphany Catholic Church in Emmet. Together they raised 13 children.

Alice was an active member of the Catholic Daughters, Christian Mothers, Haydettes extension Club, American Legion Auxil9iary and a Holt County 4-H leader. She loved music, country life and her large garden.

Alice is survived by her children, Larry and wife Rita of Omaha, Alfred of San Antonio, Texas, Barbara Rice of Peoria, AZ, Gerold and wife Jauna of Albuquerque, NM, Bernard of Atkinson, Sister Marcia of Atchison, KS, Dan and wife Cheryl of Atkinson, Cathy Buckley and husband Darryl of Cheyenne, WY, Cecelia Schrunk and husband Larry of Atkinson, Patricia LeMasters and husband Bob of Riverton, WY, Cheryl Emanuel and husband Chad of Winterset, Iowa, and Debra Caskey and husband Monte of Fort Collins, CO; 31 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; sister, Helen Johns of Bella Vista, AR; and brother, Arthur Givens of O'Neill.

She was preceded in death by her husband; son, Wayne; parents; brother, Harold; and sister, Ethel Gustafson.
