The O'Neill golf team placed first at the Boone Central Invite on Thursday, April 13. O'Neill had a total score of 314, easily out distancing the runner up, Boone Central with a 328 and third place team Norfolk Catholic, 322. John Hurley became a four time champion at the Boone Central Invite with a score of 69, three under par. John was two down with two holes to play. He played the last two holes par/birdie to force a playoff with Gregg Pohlman of Columbus Lakeview. John went on to eagle the first playoff hole with a chip in from just off the green on the par five first hole for the win. John's steady play and competitiveness paid off down the stretch as he was able to get his first tournament win of the season. Brady Torpin and Jess Fernau continued their consistent play this year
and a solid 81 and 82 respectively placing 12 and 13. Also receiving his first individual medal of the Year was Ian Sitz placing 14 with an 82. Other O'Neill scores were Brett Bosn with a 92.
The O'Neil( junior varsity competed at the Ewing Invite on Wednesday of last week. The team finished eighth in the eleven team tournament with a score of 344. Winning the tournament was Norfolk Catholic with a score of 305 with Ainsworth finishing second 314. O'Neill golfer, Jacob Koeing shot a 76 to finish fifth. Other scores for the O'Neill junior varsity were Tom Hesse 85, Stuart Havranek 91, Heath Lichty 92 and Jonathan Loutzenhiser 108.
The next competition for the O'Neill golf team will be Thursday, April 20 at the O'Neill Invite.
