CARDINALS SPLIT TWO CONTESTS

The St. Mary's Cardinals split a pair of games this past week. On Tuesday the Cards traveled to Butte and defeated the Wildcats 73-47 and on Friday they returned home and could not find their shooting touch and dropped a hard fought 41-39 game to the Chambers Coyotes. The Cardinals had defeated the Coyotes 73-43 two weeks earlier.

On Tuesday night in was Jesse Reiman night in Butte as the 6'2" senior scored 26 points and hauled down 18 rebounds for the visiting Cardinals. On the offensive end freshman Zach Sibbel added 13 points while seniors Mitch Wecker and Will Mahony chipped in with 9 and 8 points respectively. Senior Tim Shoemaker and Sibbel each added 6 rebounds. Mahony again led the assist column with 10 while Reiman and Cody Eiler added 6 and 5 assists respectively. On defense Reiman was the leader with 5 steals. St. Mary's shot 53% from the floor.

On Friday the same Cardinal squad without the services of Jesse Reiman shot a dismal 22% from the floor. Reiman was injured in an accident on Friday morning. Give the Chambers team a lot of credit for sticking with their game plan and hitting some clutch shot down the stretch. Freshmen Cody Eiler turned in a fine performance as he hit 6 of 8 shots for 17 points. Freshmen Zach Sibbel and Sophomore Ross Crumly added 7 and 6 points respectively. Sibbel had his best rebounding game of the year pulling down 16 boards. Eiler and Crumly each added 6 boards each. Will Mahony handed out 4 assists followed by Eiler with 3. Cody also led the defense with 7 steals.

The 12-8 Cardinals have one remaining regular contest with Elgin Pope John on Friday before sub-district play begins the following week.
