St. Mary's Lady Cardinals Lose In Second Round

St: Mary's Lady Cards lost in the second round to the Stuart Broncos 54-41. An almost 11 minute time span with only two free throws turned a 13-9 first quarter deficit to a deficit of 36-13 midway through the third. The second quarter and half of the third saw missed opportunities for points and a plethora of turnovers by the Cards.

St. Mary's was able to get the lead down to 20 before the fourth at 39-19. In the fourth quarter the Cards were able to score 22 points but never could get closer then 10 points, 4838.

The Lady Cards were led by Jacquie Stowell with 15 points and Liz Willis with 12 points, each of

them scoring eight points in the fourth quarter. Jenna Connot had a strong third quarter to start the attempt at a comeback with five points in the quarter and seven for the game and Meghan Boyle came off the bench in the fourth to score six points. Liz Willis also led the team with nine rebounds and Ashley Vandersnick had seven.

Stuart was led by Andrea Schaaf with 17 points, the most exciting coming off a three from the spiking line as time expired for the half. Kellyn. Olberding had 11 points. Jamie Dvorak led the team with nine rebounds and seven assists to go with her seven points.
