Lady Cards Lose To Creighton, Rebound At NVC

St. Mary's lost a thriller to the Lady Bulldogs Tuesday night 56-48. Creighton jumped to a 30-23 lead at the half with a 17-12 second quarter. Both teams scored 11 points in the third quarter. In the fourth St. Mary's had a run midway through the fourth cutting the lead to two with two minutes left. Creighton prevailed with strong free throw shooting (5/5) and some costly St. Mary's turnovers.
St. Mary's was led by Ashley Vandersnick with 11 points and nine rebounds. Liz Willis had 10 points and four assists. Anne Kersenbrock also had five assists to go with eight points.
Creighton was led by Morrill and Fitchwith 12points each andDemuth with 10 points.
NVC Tournament
St. Mary's rebounded Saturday with a 62-47 win over Lynch in the first round of the NVC Tournament. At the half St. Mary's only led by one point, 27-26. A strong third quarter ..,saw the. Cards, outscore Lynch 1$-11 and then 17-10 in the fourth. St. Mary's was hot from the field shooting 55% from the field (27-49). "The good shooting came in big part to great passing in the half court finding the open person and hitting them so they could shoot without having to reset," said Coach Allen. The Lady Cards had 23 assists on their 27 made shots. The Lady Cards also had a com
manding edge in rebounds with 38 to Lynch's 15.
St. Mary's was led by Liz Willis who had her best all around game of the year, 23 points on 11/18 shooting, 12 rebounds, six assists, three steals and two blocks with only one turnover. Three other Lady Cards chimed
in with eight points, Anne Kersenbrock, Ashley Vandersnick and Jacquie Stowell. Jenna Connot added five assists.
The Lady Eagles were led by Jamie Wickersham with 17 points and Sarah Korb with 11.
