John R. Pruss

John R. Pruss, age 58, of Sioux Falls, SD, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2005, at his home after a long battle with cancer.

A memorial gathering was held from 5-8 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 31, 2005, at the Heart Hospital of South Dakota in Sioux Falls, SD.

Memorial mass was held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2005, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in ON'eill.

Pruss-Nabity Funeral Home of Wahoo was in charge of arrangements.

John was born to Ivan and Elenore Pruss and grew up in O'Neill. He graduated from St. Mary's High School in O'Neill in 1965. He lived in Sioux Falls, SD, and was working at Avera McKennan Hospital and the Heart Hospital.

John is survived by his sons, Brian and wife Mary of Sioux Falls, SD, Brennan and wife Tina of Rapid City, SD, and Mike of Manhattan, KS; fiancee, Katie Kean of Sioux Falls, SD; mother; Elenore of O'Neill; sisters, Beth and husband Pat Regan of Ewing, and Jeanie and husband Bruce Waldo of Amelia; sister-in-law, Mary Pruss of Wahoo; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ivan; and brother, Bill. Memorials may be given to Avera McKennan Hospice Program.
