Sam Fuhrer
Sam Fuhrer, age
82, of O'Neill, passed away Friday, May 20, 2005, at the Beverly
Healthcare Center in O'Neill.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 24, 2005, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Rev. Eric Olsen officiated the service. Music was provided by soloist, Michelle Verzal accompanied by pianist, Susan Kramer.
Pallbearers were Shad Thompson, Scott Brester, Tim Schneider, Jon Mueller, Chris Mueller and Joe Mueller. Honorary pallbearers were the O'Neill Fire Department.
Interment was in the O'Neill Calvary Cemetery.
Biglin's Mortuary, Inc. of O'Neill was in charge of arrangements.
Sam was born Jan. 25, 1923, at Butte, to William and Margaret (Zimmerly) Fuhrer. He grew up in Butte and graduated from Butte High School. He married Mary Hickey on Sept. 8, 1948, at O'Neill. She passed away March 1, 1970, Sam worked at O'Neill Photo Company as a photographer and developer. He later was custodian for St. Mary's Schools. He married Bobbi Mueller on Nov. 24, 1971, at O'Neill. She passed
away Dec. 30, 2003.
He belonged to St. Patrick's Catholic Church, and the Knights of Columbus Council #701 of O'Neill. He served on the O'Neill City Council, board member of the O'Neill Country Club and was on the O'Neill Fire Department for 40 years, serving as secretary for 26, retiring from active duty in 1994.
Sam is survived by sons, Mike Fuhrer and wife LaDonna of Deland, FL, Kelly Fuhrer of Santa Rosa, CA, Joe Fuhrer and wife Carol of O'Neill, and Steve Fuhrer of Omaha; daughter, Lynda Gottlob and husband Mark LaCroix of Littleton, CO; stepchildren, Ann Green of Sylmar, CA, Lyle Mueller of Dallas, TX, Leigh Mueller of O'Neill, Lew Mueller of Chambers, and David Mueller of Seattle, WA; six grandchildren; nine greatgrandchildren; 19 - step grandchildren; eight step greatgrandchildren; and sister, Ella Rustemeyer of Peoria, IL.
He was preceded in death by both wives, one brother and two sisters.
