James William
Corkle, age 63, of Atkinson, passed away Monday, Oct. 25, 2004, at
the Good Samaritan Center in Atkinson after a long battle with
cancer.
Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. on Thursday (today), Oct. 28, 2004, at the Seger Funeral Home in Atkinson with a Rosary at 7 p.m.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 29, 2004, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Atkinson. Reverend Luke Steffes will officate with music provided by organist Diane Osborne and soloist, Brenda Wedige.
Pallbearers are Mike Mahony, Don Duffy; Larry Bauman, Don Wedige, Steve Emme and Tim O'Connell.
Interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery in O'Neill with a graveside service at 2 p.m. Seger Funeral Home, Inc. is in charge of arrangements.
Jim, son of Jim and Blanche_ (Hansen) Corkle, was born on April, 30, 1941, in O'Neill. He attended St., Mary's School. As a young man Jim was active in 4-H. He spent much of his adult life working in agricultural areas. He assisted his father and mother in the hatchery and feed business in O'Neill. In addition he helped feed cattle, raise corn and cut hay. Later in his life, he worked at the Norfolk Livestock Co.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, riding horses, attending rodeos and visiting friends and family. He was
especially proud of his three grandchildren and their achievement.
Jim is survived by two daughters, Marie Corkle of Chambers and Susie Walters of O'Neill; two sons, Jimmy Corkle of Atkinson and J. R. Corkle of Naper; three grandchildren; eight sisters, Rose Mary Mohr of Wichita, KS, Ellen Viens of Ft. Collins, CO, Cera DeFeo of Dallas, Texas, Colleen Eby of O'Neill, Rita Bermingham of Englewood, CO, Eileen Suit of Prescott, AZ, Mary Crawford of O'Neill and-Phyllis Ring of Denver, CO; three brothers, Charles Corkle of Winner; SD, Paul Corkle of Atkinson and Michael Corkle of Prescott; AZ; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
