Father Basil M. Price

Father Basil M. Price, S.J., age 81, of Seoul, Korea, formerly of O'Neill, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2004, at St. Mary's Hospital Kang Nam in Seoul after battling colon cancer.

Funeral Services were held at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 2, 2004, in the Sogang University Chapel in Seoul. Visitation was held from the time of his death until the time of service.

Interment was in the Jesuit section of the Seoul Archdiocese Cemetery, Yongin, Korea.

Basil was born to Mary and Ernest Price in O'Neill. He attended and graduated from St. Mary's Academy in 1940. He then attended Creighton University in Omaha. He was ordained a priest and served the people of Korea for 47 years, where he started and taught in a Institute for Labor Relations, teaching the Korean people business skills.

He was a good and faithful servant to the Lord and to the Lord's people. He lived a life marked with a burning sense of truth and justice, together with a generous and gracious love of the Lord. He generously and happily shared his gifts with all who came into his life.

Basil is survived by three brothers and their wives, Mr. and Mrs. Delmar Price of Oregon City, OR, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Price of Custer, SD and Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Price of Norfolk; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins and his Jesuit brothers in Korea.

He was preceded in death by his parents and several brothers.
