John F. Shoemaker, age 80 of Omaha, formerly of O'Neill, passed away Monday, June 14, 2004 at his home in Omaha.

Visitation will be at 5 pm with a wake service at 7 pm on Thursday (today), June 17, 2004, at St. Leo's Catholic Church in Omaha.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, June 18, 2004, at 1:30 pm at St. Leo's Catholic Church in Omaha. Interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery in Omaha.

John, son of John and Hattie (Pribil) Shoemaker, was born July 22, 1923, at O'Neill. He graduated from St. Mary's Academy in 1941 and Creighton University.

On August 13, 1949, he married Mary Ellen Lenneman in Omaha. The couple lived in Omaha where he was an attorney for Hartford Insurance Company. Mary Ellen passed away in January of 1992. On Dec. 17, 1993, he married Agnes Melia.

John is survived by his wife Agnes; children and spouses; Mary Beth and Mike Kudlacz, Mark and Beth Shoemaker, Trish Shoemaker and Chris Harley, Brian and Susie Shoemaker, Tom and Linda Melia, Mark and Margaret Melia, Tim and Jackie Melia, Nikki and Bob Speight; 16 grandchildren, two-great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Margaret Shoemaker of O'Neill and Angie Pape of McCook; many nieces, nephew and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Robert Shoemaker, and first wife, Mary Ellen.
