The Lynch Eagles faced the top-rated St. Mary's Cardinals and were shown why they are top-rated. The Eagles suffered a loss to 48 unanswered points.
St. Mary's took control of the ball first at the 26 yard line. Mike Simons took the first play from scrimmage and hustled out to the 33. Matt Willis was next in line and gained 3 yards out to he 36 for the first down.

On third down from their own 35 yard line, Ryan Hickey ran 20 yards
down to the Lynch 25. The Cards drove down to the Eagle's 9 yard
line, where on fourth down, Hickey fumbled the ball and Lynch took
over on their own 14.
Lynch opened up the match by giving the ball to running back, Shane Classen, and then to Ross Nielsen, who were stopped at the line of scrimmage for no gain. On third down, Noah Nelson tried to pass to Nate Eilers but the incomplete pass force the Eagles to punt from their won 14.
On St. Mary's next series, the Cards took possession on the 29 and only moved 5 yards up the field before the Eagle defense forced them to punt.
Lynch mixed it up a little on the next series, starting from their own 40-yard line. Matt Hadenfeldt, on third down from the 40, sprinted down to the St. Mary's 29, for a 31 yard gain. The Eagles tried running the ball, but with yardage tough to come by and a failed fourth down conversion, Lynch turned the ball over the Cardinal 21 yard line.
The Cards started their next drive from the 20. Ryan Hickey ran the ball to the 31 for the first down. Jed Givens took the next play to Lynch's 35 for a 14 yard gain, putting the Cards in scoring territory. Ryan Hickey took first honors of the night when he ran in the first touchdown to put the Cards up, 6-0, after a failed extra-point attempt.
Lynch's next series of plays yielded a mere 2 yards and they were forced to punt.
St. Mary's next drive attempt started on their 26 yard line, where Jed Givens ran to the 36. On second from the 35 yard line, Simons passed to Dan Haggerty for the first of four touchdowns to put the Cards up 12-0.
Lynch's offense saw stiff resistance form the Cardinal defense, allowing only 14 yards to the Eagles and forcing them to punt from the 27 yard line.
The Cardinals took the next drive from their 22 yard line down the field to the Eagle's 25 yard line in four plays. On second down and one from the 25, Jed Givens gave St. Mary's their third score of the evening putting them up, 18-0.
The Eagles, taking over on their 26 yard line, forged their way to the 31, where they were penalized for 5 yards and sent back to the 26 yard line. On second down, a pass from Hadenfeldt was intercepted by Matt Willis, giving the Cards the ball at the 39.
The Cards, taking over from the 39, were not exempt from their own problems. After a two-play 23 yard gain by Ryan Hickey to the 16, Jed Givens was taken down behind the line of scrimmage for a 7 yard loss. A penalty on Lynch brought the ball forward back to the 18. On third down, Mike Simons was sacked for a loss back to the 31.On fourth down, the Cards fumbled at the 14 yard line and Lynch took back control of the ball.
The Eagles were traumatized more when on second down from the 14, Seth Hadenfeldt was taken down in the back field by Ryan Hickey at the 1 yard line. The Eagles, in dire straits, punted on fourth down and returned the ball to St. Mary's.
With the Cards looking to score again, Mike Simons, connected to Dan Haggerty on a pass from the 37 yard line which was good for the fourth touchdown of the evening, putting the Cards up 2400. Ryan Kelly ran in the extra point conversion and the Cards stood at 26-0 with time running out in first half.
The second half of the game opened up with Lynch taking first crack at the ball. The Lynch tam was stymied by the St. Mary's defense and never crossed mid=field the second half. Dan Haggerty reigned in the second half of the Cards'; scoring game. Haggerty had a 13 yard pass to put the Cards up, 32-0, with Hickey taking in the conversion for a, 34-0, lad. On the next Cardinal possession, four plays into the series, Haggerty snagged a pass from the 14 for the sixth touchdown of the night. A run by Jed Givens for the extra point conversion put ST. Mary's up, 42-0. For the grand finale of the evening, Haggerty returned a 65 yard punt to end the game with a 48-0, win over Lynch.
The Cards will finish regular season play at home this Friday evening against Verdigre.
