The butte Wildcats had a tough time of it in their loss to the St. Mary's Cardinals last Friday evening.
Butte started out on their own 15-yard line and after a few attempts at yardage from Michael and Jesse Vogt, the Wildcats punted, giving St. Mary's their first possession at Butte's 35-yard line.
On the Cards first down, running back Jed Givens ran the ball 30 yards for the first score of the evening and the PAT put the Cards on the board 8-0.
Butte started their second possession out on their 10-yard line, and a run by Jessie Vogt took the Wildcats out to the 22. On the next play, Michael Vogt ran to the 35. Butte was then forced to punt from their 22 after suffering some yard loss.
The Cards took their second possession right back to the goal line when Mike Simons hit Dan Haggerty for a 30-yard touchdown pass. After the PAT the Cards ruled the board 16-0 with 6:20 remaining in the first quarter.
Butte's third attempt began at the 16 with a run by Michael Vogt. Second down saw quarterback Jesse Vogt go out with a knee injury.
The Cards took one more possession before the end of the first quarter and ended the quarter with a 30-yard drive.
The second quarter started the Cards out on the Butte 13 yard-line. Jed Givens ran the first touchdown of the second quarter and his second score of the game with 11:13 in the quarter, upping the score to 22-0.
Butte again turned over on downs and the St. Mary's offense did their magic.
Ryan Hickey ran a 65-yard touchdown followed by a pass from Simons to Welding making the score 30-0.

Five plays and a fumble later by the Wildcats, Kiel Neumann ran a 20-yard touchdown and with no PAT put the score at 36-0 with 7:30 left in the half.
The Cards put 16 more points on the board of a third touchdown from senior Jed Givens and a PAT from Nick Welding setting the score at 44-0 with 4:46 left in the half. The final score was made by Zach Ascherl with a small dash into the endzone. Cards' Will Mahoney put the final bit of damage in with the PAT ending the game 52-0 at halftime.
