Beuna L. Hynes

Funeral services for Beuna L. Hynes, age 73, of O'Neill were held Friday, March 22, 2002, at 10:30 am at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in O'Neill with Reverend Mark Filips officiating. Burial followed in O'Neill Cemetery. Visitation was Thursday, held from 3 to 9 pm at Biglins's Mortuary. Rosary was at 8 pm.

Music was provided by St. Patrick's Choir. Organist was Jan McIntosh, with Marvin Ziska providing solo. The Lector for the reading was Jerry Cuddy.

Pallbearers were David Laursen, Doug Obermire, Ray Risor, Bryan Cuddy. Honorary Pallbearers were Evelyn Laursen, Elsie Pribil, Joyce Risor, Judy Obermire, Norma Carr, Menna Derickson, and Dr. Richard Fitch and Lois Fitch.

Beuna was born May 10, 1928 in Adams County, IA, to George and Cleo (Waage) Calkins. In 1946 she graduated from St. Mary's Academy in O'Neill. She married Donald Hynes in November 11, 1947, in O'Neill. Beuna worked on their ranch with her husband and later as a bookkeeper for Eby's Incorporated, Miller Furniture and Sears Store in O'Neill. She was a good member of ST. Patrick's Catholic Church, St. Patrick's Altar Society and a member of the America Legion Auxiliary.

Beuna's many interests included her love of roses having a rose garden in front of her home. She loved to watch and feed birds and squirrels. She enjoyed her daughter Shelly's love for rehabilitation of wildlife. Beuna loved football and was an avid Nebraska football fan.

Beuna is survived by two daughters, Shelly K. Hynes of O'Neill, Lynda Coday and husband Dan of Omaha; granddaughters Jackie Johnson and husband Steve of Omaha, Teri Coday Mowery and husband John of Newville, PA; three great-grandchildren.

Beunaa was preceded in death by her husband and her parents. Memorials can be made to St. Patrick's Church Foundation per her specific request.
