ACHIEVEMENT-
Successful teachers are those who have lived well, laughed often, and loved much;
Who have gained the respect of intelligent persons and the love of children;
Who have filled their niches and accomplished their tasks; who leave the world a better than they found it-whether by an improved poppy poem, or rescued soul;
Who never lacked appreciation of earth's beauty or failed to express it;
Who looked for the best in others and gave the best they had

When one thinks who was one of a kind-----Sor Flor
She lived well, laughed often, and loved us much…she left the world better than she found It---…looked for the best in others and gave the best she had…
(Adapted from R.L. Stevenson)
So many of us were blessed with her joy and energy in teaching and in an array of other activities from musicals to making and filling piñatas and luminarios. Officially she was Sr. M. Flores but to most of us, she was endearingly called "Sor Flor". We learned Spanish, studied Mexican culture, and learned to sing in 3-part harmony. She was always finding ways for us to bring the talents God graced us with to those who would appreciate some joy---and so through the years we would sing in Church, on stage, at music contests and festivals, and carol for the patients in the hospital, nursing homes, and the homebound. Her smile was contagious, her wit unmatched, and her laugh was one of a kind. She continued to touch children's lives for years at St. Mary's and seemed never to forget a student whom she had taught. She was the first nun to show us that sisters really did have hair under their habits. Although small in stature, her heart was so big that it held us all inside. When I remember the angels who were among us, Sor Flor soars above the rest. Gracias, Dios, por Sor Flor
