There is so much to remember of St. Mary's Academy--- her stately spires, the shining Golden Stairs that no one was allowed to step on, each room with a picture of Our Lady of Perpetual Help -- fulfilling a promise when the sisters' prayers were answered, and no student was lost during the 1918 influenza epidemic, the wise and kind sisters who could be outrageously funny and awesomely interesting in guiding us through history and math, Cardinal ball games, on stage with productions like Our Town, to our final appearance in cap and gown , and a diverse group of classmates ( dubbed the Town Herd by citizens who met them on their evening walks) who always pulled together and became treasured friends 50 years ago.
