1980's

 

1980 - Herman Weber serves as first lay administrator.

IGE and traditional grading programs are integrated.

 

1984 - STATE CHAMPIONSHIP in football. Undefeated team. Awarded C-2

All Class Title.

 

1986 -Sister Anita, a Notre Dame Sister, joined St. Mary's High School faculty as an English teacher.

 

1988 - National recognition for "EXCELLENCE IN EDUCATION." Awarded by United States Department of Education for meeting the highest standards in National secondary schools recognition program.

 

1989 - Projected debt of $600,000 made it imperative to raise funds to service debt and supplement operating costs. Under the leadership of M.J. Kersenbrock, (class of 1974) and Lucille Dufek (class of 1936) the SOS (Save our Schools) drive was successfully initiated as a five year program.
