1933 - First St. Mary's team to win a district tournament. Athletic teams were coached by assistant priests and volunteers until the 1950's.

 

1939 - Cooperative efforts between St. Mary's and OHS were initiated with shared use of the OHS gym for practice and basketball games. Band instruction was initiated at SMA by Ira George, who also directed the OHS band and a city funded combined band in the summer. Most of Mr. George's time was volunteered.
