1900- April 23, first Franciscan Sisters came to O'Neill.
June 17, cornerstone of Saint Mary's Academy laid.
September 1, school opened.
October 7, statue of Our Lady of Perpetual Help was enthroned above the entrance.
December 12, the new building is blessed by Father Cassidy.
December 24, the Angelus bell is heard for the first time. Inscribed on the bell:

1903- Seven young ladies are the first graduates.
Agnes Clark, Mary Hagerty, Anna O'Donnell.
Margaret McGreevy, Florence Mullen,
Margaret Barrett, Rose Grady.
1908- Accreditation earned. Recognized as outstanding by Nebraska State Department of Education.
Teacher -training program approved.
Alumnae Association founded.
Enrollment increased. Both boys and girls attended grade school. The High School enrolled girls only and included boarding facilities for young ladies.
