'Sky Worker' Performs
Admirably
Consumers Public Power District's "sky worker", a
huge truck with hydraulically-operated elevator for lifting workmen
and tools to lofty positions, was speeded to O'Neill from
Creighton.
The "sky worker" was
credited with saving a portion of the west wing, because it enables
firemen to attack the fire extremely at various heights.
The only floor completely
destroyed in the west wing was the attic. The roof, of course, was
consumed by the fire.
Consumers employees, Duane
Schroder and Edward Schmit, were lauded by Fire Chief G. E. Miles for
their assistance.
Leonard Davis,
Northwestern Bell Telephone Co. employee, managed the company's
floodlight truck which provided invaluable in battling the
flames.
Both the "sky worker" and
the light truck are indispensable tools for the utility firms in line
maintenance.
