Independent
Grateful For Many Contributions
The
Independent is grateful to numerous sources for the pictorial content
of this Souvenir Edition, "The Day St. Mary's Burned."
Special
credit goes to the O'Neill Photo Co. whose files of photographic
plates and negatives span many years. The Sisters of St. Francis made
available certain old photographs. Individuals who lent pictorial
material from personal collections included Neil Ryan, Clay Johnson,
jr., Mrs. H. J Birmingham, A. M. Beelaert of Orchard. Others made
submissions which do not appear but were of valuable assistance in
selecting the photographs. The Atkinson Graphic furnished some of the
fire-fighting photos.
Persons
submitting narratives were acknowledged.
Material was
collected, edited, and composed by The Independent. Presswork was
accomplished by the Sun Newspapers of Lincoln, Inc., on a latest type
web offset press. The firm is headed by Carroll (Cal) Stewart, who
was owner and publisher of the O'Neill Frontier, 1946-1959.
Extra copies
of the Souvenir Edition are available though the Independent, P.O.
Box 360, O'Neill, at 75 cents per copy.
If you wish
to preserve your copy care should be exercised in protecting from
sunlight. Although printed on a special grade of white paper, the
stock is newsprint.--THE PUBLISHERS
